Google has announced its largest-ever acquisition by agreeing to purchase cloud security startup Wiz for $32 billion to enhance its cloud security capabilities.
Wiz, a platform offering security across multiple cloud providers, will remain autonomous and continue its collaboration with services like AWS, Azure, and Oracle after the acquisition.
The transaction, which is still awaiting regulatory approval, is an all-cash deal by Alphabet, Googleβs parent company, and represents a major investment in making cloud security more accessible and intelligent.
BYD has introduced a new charging system capable of providing 292 miles of range in just five minutes, and plans to establish 4,000 charging stations without a specified timeline.
The "Super e-Platform" features rapid-charging batteries and advanced components, positioning it as the fastest system available for mass-produced electric vehicles according to BYD.
The Han L sedan and Tang L SUV will be the first BYD models to utilize this quick charging technology, launching in April with prices starting at 270,000 yuan ($37,338).
OpenAI is launching a beta test for ChatGPT Connectors, enabling ChatGPT Team users to link their Slack and Google Drive accounts for more informed responses from the chatbot.
The new feature will initially be available to select users, with plans to expand to other platforms like Microsoft SharePoint and Box, allowing ChatGPT to utilize internal business information.
OpenAI assures users that permissions for Slack and Google Drive are respected and continuously updated, ensuring that employees access only the data they are authorized to view.
Last week, Google and Muon Space launched a prototype satellite as part of a mission to detect wildfires from space, which is now transmitting data back to Earth.
The initiative, called FireSat, plans to deploy over 50 satellites to detect smaller wildfires and received $13 million in funding from Google.org along with technical assistance from Google Research.
Scheduled to be fully operational by 2030, the FireSat constellation aims to provide updates every 20 minutes and will monitor high-risk wildfire areas more frequently than other regions.
π΅οΈββοΈ Rippling accuses Deel of espionage in lawsuit
Rippling has filed a lawsuit against Deel, accusing it of corporate espionage by using an insider to steal confidential information like sales leads and pricing strategies.
The alleged spy, hired by Rippling's Ireland office, reportedly accessed sensitive data over a thousand times and used specific search terms related to Deel to gather information.
Rippling's investigation led to a "honeypot" scheme that confirmed Deel's involvement; the company is seeking damages and has engaged a high-profile lawyer for the case.
